Samba is first and foremost part of Brazilian culture, making our primary role that of cultural ambassadors. We are committed to sponsoring authentic representations of samba that honor its origins in the African-dispora, and its evolution through the influence of popular culture and underground movements of resistance within Brazil.

Second, samba is of the people, for the people, and so it must embrace the diverse people of Brazil and New York. We are committed to bringing samba culture to as many people as possible. While the origins of samba are in specific communities, the spirit of samba has no limits, and is open to everyone who is moved by its power.

Our focus on samba as dance, provides a space where individuals can see themselves, feel their bodies and find their light in ways they never imagined. Through movement, rhythm, and community, samba is an outlet for joy, confidence, and resilience. Our programs empower individuals to embrace self-expression, learn and develop technique, and experience the transformative power of dance.
